Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born 16 May 1977
is a New Zealand actress. She is renowned for her quirky, soft-spoken but
headstrong characters, and works predominantly in independent films. She has
received a New Zealand Film Award as well as a Hollywood Film Award as well as
a Sundance Special Jury Award. Lynskey was a teenage murderess who made her
film debut in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the move
to the United States in 1994, Lynskey forged a career acting in supporting
roles in a range of large-budget and smaller-scale films. These include Ever
After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both 1999), Coyote
Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered Glass (2003) and
Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey received critical acclaim and an award
nomination for the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer for her role as a
depressed divorcee in Hello I Must Be Going (2012) that was a turning point for
her career. She is a prominent persona within the American independent film
industry thanks to her subsequent performances in Happy Christmas. We'll Never

the Manor. (2021). Lynskey's character of Rose on CBS The sitcom Two and a Half
Men (1903-2015) made her famous. She was the star of Togetherness from 2015 to
2016, and she received a nomination from Critics' Choice Television Awards for
the Best Supporting Actress. She provided the voices of Beatrice for the
Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) and Megan for Disney XD's
Future-Worm! (2016-2018). She also appeared as Molly Strand on the first season
of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) and she played Rosemary Thomson in the FX
miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
